Our Chambers are named for Queen Victoria who reigned from 1837 to 1901 and was Australia’s first Head of State. The Victorian Era was marked by great expansion of the Empire and the spread of the English Common Law system throughout the world.
As a result, millions of people around the world take for granted legal principles like the presumption of innocence, habeus corpus, trial by jury, the rule of law and representative government.
Our Chambers were founded opposite the famous Queen Victoria Building but has since moved to the legal precinct and is on the corner of Elizabeth and Liverpool Streets, opposite the Downing Centre.
